How to Organize a Closet Simply in One Week is part of the Unclutter Your Life and Business Summer Challenge.  We have been spending a lot of time working on various area your home and business.

This weekend and all of next week– It is all about your closet and clothes.  Maybe you share one a closet (may not).    Is it messy?  Are you constantly looking for things?

I know that this is a lot of work for most people so we are dedicating a whole week to this to make sure you get it done!   Just being about to grab clothes and go can add back in so much time to your day but without a simple system it falls apart quickly and your back in mess.

I love my closet.  Really – I got excited when we build our home back 7 year ago that it had 2 (yes I know hate me) master closets put into the master bedroom.  I don’t have to share with my husband.  Trust me – I had to before that and I understand challenge.

By putting these practical and simple steps in place over the next week, your closet will function day in and day out.

Step 1 – Donate.  Donate.  Throw Out.  And Reduce Your Stress and Clutter!

Do you really need you bridesmaid dress from 10 years ago?  Can you fit in it?  And No – your daughter in 15 years will not want to wear it to her prom.

The shirt you have had hanging in the closet for 2 year and not wearing because it has a stain on it?   Did you know that even charity organization such as the Goodwill and Salvations Army throw away stained and holey clothing.  So should you… or at least use them as rags.

Do you have clothes that are way too big or way to small for the dream day you are that size again?  If you have not been that size in 5 years, it might be time to say goodbye.

Maternity clothes that you are still having onto but do not have plans to have any more children ever.

They say we really only wear about 20% maximum of the clothes we own.  Is that true for you?

At least One Bag for the Donations (See Value of Donations) and One for the Trash.

Can I challenge you to reduce your clothes by 25% this weekend? Think of all the great people you could be helping but donating items that don’t ever see daylight.

Step 2 – See ya Monday… including videos of my personal closet for all to see!
