Setting Goals and Objectives and Making Your Plan – Day 2 – Start Planning the From Here to There with Zones for Enhancement
Posted on 04. Jan, 2010 by Samantha Gardner in Life Management, Time Management
After completing Day 1 of Setting Goals and Objectives, you should have a quick overview of your life day and a sense of where you want to take it. Make sure you have your piece of paper in front of you for these few next steps.
Day 2 –
Step 1. Most people need a balanced life to fell fulfilled and happy. Now only look at the categories you want to have in your life today and moving forward. Cross out any junk right now. (Note: You may not have any categories you want to crossout.)
Step 2. Now thinking about your personal categories only for a moment such as Family and Friend or Overall Health (whatever yours are). Write down areas of your life you would and feel you need to improve or enhance over the next year (6 months even if that helps). Here are my own personal categories that I am working on in 2010 to give you an example:
Samantha’s Personal Zones for Enhancement
- The Home Nest (Domestic Stuff)
- Fabulous Family (My Husband, Son, Family and Close Friends)
- Physical Prowess (My Body and Well Being)
- Community 101 (Stuff I Do in the Neighborhood and Son’s School)
- Heart and Soul (Spirituality and Mental Health)
Step 3. Now do the same things for your professional and business categories. Write down your zones of your professional life you need to enhance or even begin this year. Use your vision from Day1 Step 4 if you are stuck or need a bit more help thinking it out. Once again, here are my own personal categories that I am moving forward with in 2010. Your business and categories may be completely different.
Samantha’s Business Zones for Enhancement
- Professional Development 301
- Marketing Mastery
- Cogitative Coaching and Speaker
- Networker and Communications Sensation
- Creative Content/Solutions Provider
As you have noticed, I like to have some fun with this and be creative. It makes it less boring and adds energy to the process. You could have more or few zones of enhancement than I but I do not recommend more than 8.
In both Steps 2 and 3 – Make sure they relate somehow to where you want to end up (Step 4 in Day1). No point in planning to go nowhere when setting goals and objectives and making your roadmap.
Remember: keep it simple and easy and FUN!
