The Big Picture – Challenges vs. Solutions

The Big Picture – Challenges vs. Solutions

Posted on 17. Oct, 2009 by Samantha Gardner in Life Management, Time Management

Sometimes we all get all wrapped up in challenges we which we would not have to deal with to begin with.  However, we do not always thing them through.  I love this example…

When NASA first started the space program the launch of astronauts into orbit, they realized that the pens would not work.  When you are at zero gravity the ink would not flow down and it was impossible to write on anything.

To overcome this challenge, it took NASA just over one decade and close to $12 million.  In the end, they developed a pen that worked anywhere at any time.  This pen works at zero gravity.  It works upside down.  Heck, it even works underwater on almost any surface type.  This $12 million pen can also work in temperatures range from below freezing to over 300 degrees C.

So what did the space program in Russia do to solve the problem…

Their astronauts used a pencil.

Before diving into the challenges that face you in building your business or in your personal life, take step back for a second.  See if there are any simple steps you can take to overcome it without wasting time or money.
