What’s in a File Name? Clean up the Computer and Filing Files Fast as part of Unclutter Your Life and Business Summer Challenge

Let’s just go today… (see Here for Yesterday’s steps 1 &2)

Step 3 – Rename files so that you will know what they are and  use Capitals and dashes to help to be better able to read the names.

Example:  Which can you read better?

samanthaezinearticle1

or

Samantha-Ezine-Article-1

It seems really simple but so effective in location items.

Now, I would never name the file above that way.  I would name it based on the article.

Example:  Which would you remember what the file is about better?

Samantha-Ezine-Article-1

Or

Ezine-Article-How-to-Save-5-Minute-in-Morning

Take the time now to rename files and get in the habit of naming them properly in the first place.  This will save you soooo much time.  I promise.
